california i will never be able to call you home

your clouds linger not long enough
so dark will never find home beneath
where the sounds of a thousands voices
spread thin through miles
your blue runs too deep
do you have no hues of gray?
i have no quarrel with the quakes or with the fires
but the disaster of cheerful optimism allowed set free
pigeons unleashed in the great outdoors
a scene of nature too much for my senses
California in doses I do enjoy you
but i can never drop to bended knee
no proposals expect none from me
because i love rain and you will never rain enough for me.
